LIGA FEMENINA 2

Promotion to Liga Femenina

The season began with a clear objective, to create a team that was capable of competing to climb to the highest division of national basketball.

The new project was led by Rubén Burgos, coming from the club's EBA team, and with several changes in the roster. At the point guard position came the Montenegrin Snezana Aleksic; at shooting guard, the Portuguese Maria Bettencourt; at the small forward position came the Valencian Irene Garí and the Brazilian Isabela Ramona Macedo; while at the center position came the Malian Meiya Tirera, the Senegalese Thiama Kamara and the American Rennee Bennett. Regarding the previous year's project, the point guards Bego Pallardó and Esther Díaz, the shooting guard Virginia Sáez, the small forward Leles Muñoz and the power forward Rebeca Cotano will continue, completing the squad.

After a start of adaptation and some defeats with a 5-3 balance, little by little the machine was greased, achieving a tremendous streak of 18 consecutive victories that allowed to go up positions in the standings to finish the Regular League with a resounding 23-3 and in the first position of group B of the Liga Femenina 2. In the middle of the season, Montenegrin center Anna Pocek joined the group.

The group leadership qualified for the promotion phase to the top division, a final phase with 8 teams that would be played entirely in the Fonteta, and from which the 2 new teams of the division of honor would come out. Valencia Basket shared the group with Ensino Lugo, Patatas Hijolusa and Picken Claret, also from Valencia.

After an initial setback against the powerful Ensino, two victories against Patatas Hijolusa and Picken Claret allowed the taronja to enter the finals as second classified. The opponent, Celta Zorka, first of the opposite group, posed a battle from start to finish that would only be resolved in the final stretch with an agonizing 51-54 victory in front of more than 6,200 spectators on an April 29, 2018 that will be recorded as the day of the great promotion.

Valencia returned to the elite of Spanish women's basketball.
